Kutch Embroidery is a style of intricate embroidery that is touted to have originated in Armenia. Yes you read that right, the art form that derives its reference to the Rann of Kutch, the desert area in the state of Gujarat, India – actually has its origins in the Central Asian country Armenia. Stumped? I was too! But somehow this art form travelled at the hands of traders and made its home among the people of Kutch in India – from where we Indians identify it now.
I have started this blog cum website as a passion project – the aim is to collect, collate and present resources for anyone interested to know more about this embroidery form and take it to whatever level they wish – beginner to hobbyist to professional level.
